T O P S I D E the dark brute began the jouney. he had never heard of this place before, but he could sense the near ocean. he had never seen the ocean, nor heard it or smelt it, but he knew now and he couldn't wait to get their. his quarter horse gaits were one in a million, so he thought. he galloped quickly up to the mountain's edge. the ground beneath him was hard and uncomfortable on his perfect black hooves. he grinned, enjoying the thought of how pretty he was. he had to be careful not to ruin his perfect coat on this journey to the sea. he turned around and noticed the sorrel mare. he snorted and stomped his hoof becoming impatient. he snorted again and then turned his dial, tired of waiting for her. she would be able to catch up to him in a while, for now, he would be the brave one and run ahead to see what was to offer. he trotted along the hard graveled edge until he heard a sudden crack. he halted immediately and perched his egg-shaped ears towards where the sound had come from. it was up ahead of him. he had to be careful now, but he would wait for his female friend to catch up before he went any further. they couldn't lose each other.P I N E S I D E D E N V E Rdenver had been in these lands for quite some time, and with no luck to finding a herd, she joined a loner clan with another quarter horse much like herself, but, he was a lot more into himself than she was into him. she rolled her eyes when she was pressured to catch up to him. she had been traveling through the lands for a long time, and her energy was running low. the air was cold but he didn't seem to mind, so she wouldn't either. she didn't like this stallion as a mate, but as a friend. he was funny to watch because he thought so high of himself. she would only grin and move on. she didn't know if he liked her back, but it didn't bother her to not know. she picked up a trot to catch up to him but he turned the corner too quick and the rocky hill was killing her. she suddenly heard a loud crackle and she stopped in her tracks and listened closely. she nickered once to make sure that her friend was ok. she looked behind her and wondered if anyone had been behind her following them, then she picked up a hard trot to the peak of the hill. she caught sight of him and whinnied to him. slow down topside. i don't have as much energy as you do. not that he would listen to her, afterall they had only met not even a week ago and they still had some learning of each other to do. topside spun around and noticed that denver had caught up to him. he smiled at her and listened to what she had to say. precious, if you want to survive and get there before night falls then you have to keep up with me. he smiled at her. not that night would fall soon. it had just began the mid-afternoon and the day was warmer than usual. late winter was coming to an end and the days lasted longer than nights. but he didn't care he just wanted to get to the sandy beaches as soon as possible. he turned to look at her again. it must have been a rock slide up ahead. why don't you stay and rest while i go check it out then i'll come back and get you. he waited for a reply from her. he figured she would enjoy a rest, even if it was on a narrow trail on the edge of a cliff. the noise sounded again and she jumped, not expecting it to happen. she reached topside's side with heavy breaths. sweat lingered down her neck. she listened to what he said back to her. precious? it went through her mind over and over again, but he couldn't like her, not like that. a rest would be amazing. she told him and she moved over to the edge of the cliffside into the shade. she stood there for a while. she wouldn't lay down until topside left and was out of sight. be careful. she told him and let him on his way. she watched him as he trotted off, his beautiful body was perfect. but he was young. would that really change anything? she let the thought slip her mind as she laid down on the hard earth surface. perhaps someone also traveling to the beach would come walking past. she wondered, and hoped. word count; 797 status; open notes; i figured i would use denver since no one replied to claim her yet.[/blockquote]

The Moon, she hangs like a cruel portrait Soft winds whisper the bidding of trees As this tragedy starts with a shattered glass heart And the Midnightmare trampling of dreams But oh, no tears please Fear and pain may accompany Death But it is desire that shepherds it's certainty As We shall see...
Softly softly went the slender white mare, delicate legs scrambling under her lithe bodice as she made her way through a dark cavern that cut the face of a hill in half; only the light on the other side beckoning her through. To call this mare slender though was an overstatement, she was skinny. Hipbones jutting through her thin coat hinting at the blows life had been dealing her so far, not that she let any of that affect her, she knew better. With her straight profiled face held up high, Lluvia's long ears flickered back and forward, listening cautiously for anyone who might want to trap her here, perhaps it was all a trap... the alluring sounds and smells on the other side just put there by some magic to lure her in. Lluvia paused and held her pinkish hoof held up high in mid step, nostrils quivering as she tried to tell who was there. A few minutes passed before she assumed it safe to go forward to the other side, to follow the light.
The sharp, crisp scent of what lay beyond the light grew stronger, and Lluvia's pace increased, only slowed by the sound of conversation. What were others doing here? Curiosity overcame the Akhal-Teke mare and she took a tentative step onto the soft, sandy substrate of the beach, long neck poking her slender head around the corner of the chasm she was hiding in "how silly I am" she thought to herself "Hiding from others when really I should be out of this dark place as soon as possible". Pale blue eyes spied two horses standing near each other quite a few metres away, they hadn't noticed her yet. The possibility of this being a trap seemed a little less now. Shifting her wary gaze from the pair, Lluvia looked at the surrounding land, it was breathtaking. There was more water here than she had ever seen in her whole life, and not a wisp of grass around. Perhaps the odd smell associated with this place gave clues as to why there was no grass.

she had rested barely long enough at all before the scent of an unfamiliar equine was in range. she lifted her dial from where it had rested for those few seconds and turned her head to look around and see if anyone was in view. she spotted the strange looking equine. she was different than herself and topside. she wouldn't mind it though. the more friends the better. she looked back straight and stretched her neck out. she shook her dirty brown mane from the dust that formed when she had been laying down, and she stuck her from pillars out and hoisted herself up on all fours. she then shook her body again, make her appearance obviously known. her legs and neck were sore from the previous days' of traveling. she hobbled over to the mare slowly with a gentle smile across her facade. greetings. she spoke to her with a gentle tone. she meant no harm to this mare and she seemed sweet, otherwise she would probably just spit in her face or talk back meanly to her. but denver already sensed she wasn't like that. i'm pineside denver. what's you name? she halted where she was once she finished her saying. her smile was cemented onto her muzzle. she looked over the mare's body. she was much taller than her, and had a long neck, longer than hers for sure. her legs were skinny yet looked strong, and she wondered exactly what kind of horse she was. she awaited a response from the mare, hoping for an answer to her mind's questions. word count; 265 status; finished notes; muse is wimpy on this one.[/blockquote]

The blue eyed femme gazed longingly out into the ocean (though she did not know it was called that), her breath was taken away by the bright blue, angry looking water. It sounded like the description of her own eyes that other foals had teased her for, secretly Lluvia thought they were all a little jealous of her unique colouring. The sound of movement drew the pallid mare's attention away from the sea and to the right of her, there was another horse getting up from a restful position in the sand. The brown coloured horse had probably heard her coming through the dark crag in the earth. Lluvia watched the other horse stand up and shake the dust from it's brown coat, this horse was quite unlike Lluvia and the other desert horses with which she roamed, this brown horse was of a thick muscular build and stood a little shorter than herself; Lluvia's eyes wandered to the other horse’s impressive hindquarters, certainly an indicator of speed.
As the other horse drew near, Lluvia grew a little anxious, her hooves shifting about uneasily on the sand. Fortunately the brown horse was a mare, and therefore not too much of a threat, all she could do was taunt and tease, unless of course they somehow got into a scuffle which was not unheard of for mares. "Greetings" the unknown mare spoke softly "I'm Pineside Denver. What's your name?". Lluvia watched the mare Pineside with a little suspicion, it paid to not let your guard down immediately. "Greetings Pineside." Lluvia replied, speaking softly also "I am Lluvia". The large blue eyes of the Akhal-Teke mare were wide as she watched the brown Quarter Horse, sparse white tail flicking about her hind legs in her typical edgy fashion. Lluvia always had a nervous temperament as a foal, made worse by the pranks and taunts by the other foals, but as she ventured to this new land as an unknown, she made a promise to herself to not build a wall between herself and others. Running away at such a time would be sure to lose her potential friends and give herself a bad name.

the ocean breeze began to blow causing her forelock to pass over her right eye. she shook her crania and then shook it downwards. her forelock finally found it's temporary resting place on the top of her right ear. she smiled at the mare and snorted slightly as sand also blew up her nose. she blinked and wondered where topside had disappeared to. she looked towards the blue ocean and tried to spot him but he was no where in sight and it was hard to sense if he was there or not because of the strong salt scent that went flying between the two dutchesses. it was an unfamiliar scent. a strang one. it was something she would have to get used to. the breeze slightly died down. her tail waved to her side and her mane blew from her left to her right. she smiled and began to giggle. the windn could do things to you. she turned back to the mare and noticed how nervous she was. denver gave her a friendly smile. lluvia is a nice name. it means rain right? she spoke nicely to the mare. she hoped she didn't make a fool of herself for saying that but she continued to smile at the taller mare, looking at her unique coloring.
topside had traveled down the beach against the crashing waves. his jog hadn't happened yet this day and he figured that since denver was so tired he might as well get it in now. sandpipers blew away from him as he galloped at full speed down the shore, kicking sand up behind him. the breeze tried slowing him town but topside could take it. it blew his mane and tail back which made him look like he was running even faster than he really was. his dark coat clashed against the orange sun. he finally halted and turned around, looking at where he had come from. the scent of salt up his nostrils was annoying and irritating. but he was stronger than most thought and could take it. he nipped at a few blades of grass near an old tree log then trotted back to his loner friend denver. as he approached many moments later he noticed she was talking to a horse that wasn't of their breed. he snorted and anger flew through him angrily. he cantered up to the couple but slowed to a walk before they could even notice him. evening ladies. he spoke in a dark tone and glared over at the other mare whom he had never seen before. he said nothing else. it wasn't long after she had searched for him when topside approached the two of them. she rolled her eyes. she could sense the anger he had in him and looked back at the taller mare with a smile that said 'everything's ok. he's just a doofus.' then she turned back to topside. topside this is lluvia. we're just talking so you can go off and do as you please. she spoke to him innocently as she could make it sound. she didn't fully know that stallion but knew enough that he didn't like horses that weren't their own breed. word count;535 status; finished notes; hard playing two charries at a time. lol[/blockquote]

Lluvia found herself caught off guard as a stallion similar in appearance to Denver approached rapidly. Lluvia froze on the spot as the stallion walked up and gave them a cold greeting, his grumpy manner left Lluvia feeling a little confused, Denver seemed like such a friendly horse and yet she associated herself with a horse like him. "That was judgmental of me" Lluvia thought to herself, "The stallion could just be having a bad day". Lluvia wanted to believe that the stallion was just in a grumpy mood but something inside her wouldn’t let a theory like that just lye. Lluvia's blue eyes wandered over the stallion briefly, she dipped her head and returned his cold greeting before looking away back towards Denver.
As the stallion moved away, Lluvia breathed a sigh of relief, she felt quite uncomfortable in his presence. Lluvia felt grateful for Denver's presence there. Acknowledging the other mare's comment with a nod Lluvia glanced back towards where the stallion had gone. "Do you have a land here? Lluvia asked curiously, she wondered whether Denver and the stallion, Topside were mates.
