Aerumnous So what's this big secret you can't tell me I don't wanna piece of this
Sometimes the stallion just got sick of all the problems that were dumped on him just because he was king, but he managed to take most of it in his stride. Just accepting that it was a part of his job, this job of being king that he had willingly accepted when he had been offered it.. no.. that's a lie, he had fought and won this position fair and square because he was the best suited to it. Any stallion would get sick of the things that some horses could come up with, small things that were just a waste of time, or things that were big but so unimportant that they just ended up taking a whole lot of time to work out just to find out that the answer was simple and could have been reached in a much simpler and quicker way if he had just payed a little more attention to certain things. It was times like those that he could just kill someone, but he didn't because that wouldn't be the right thing for him to do. Instead he just kept it aside and took out his frustrations later on, usually just by leaving the company of other equines to become a solitary creature for a few hours or maybe days depending on how much rest he needs. Because he is a horse that does not sleep, too busy thinking about things to let the comfort of sleep give his mind a chance to rest, it is usually overworked and stressed.
Haven't we all had enough Enough for one day I don't wanna argue with you You've got me shiverin' in my spine
The ground was blanketed in a deep layer of snow, it being late winter now and all. Solitary horse stood knee deep in the snow, the whiteness a clear contrast to the black stockings that managed to peek above the whiteness before it turned into the color of light sand nearer to the height of his stomach where it continued over his body only to be broken by the black line that ran down along his spine. Coat was quite fluffy, thick enough to keep most of the cold out though he still felt a shiver every now and then as the icy temperature penetrated his inner heat and made him momentarily cold before he could manage to block it out again by ignoring it. There was no one else here that he could share body heat with so that both of them may be warmer. But he didn't care, the peace and quiet of his own home was good for him, it kept him happy.. And it definitely kept him sane. Though soon there would be others running around here too, calling this their home and just pushing him to his limit over and over again. But that was life, that was the way that it needed to be and he knows and accepts that as well as any horse possible could. He both looked forward to it and dreaded it somewhat too, because with other equines came sleeplessness.. Insomnia it was called and he suffered from it quite badly when there were others nearby to give him reason to be thinking while he's supposed to be asleep, causing him not to be able to get to sleep until the early hours when he would just be woken minutes later by the sun rising high enough to cast even the faintest bit of life.
If everything turned out as we had said We wouldn't have to sit through any of this Maybe I would be a better fit in my own skin
Mane and tail were being thrown about wildly in the wind, the hairs tangling with each other in their attempts to keep together and stay warm. The wind was sharp, the cold that it drove before it cutting into the stallion's side. But there was no real place where he could shelter fully from the wind, and in a way it felt good. The cold was numbing him, giving him an illusion of warmth whenever the wind dropped for a mere moment. His eyes were shut to block out any snow that the wind might pick up, he didn't quite feel like getting his eyes frozen.. he was pretty sure an incident like that could blind a horse. Or maybe not, it might just be his overactive imagination coming up with some stupid thing that he just believed because it was he himself who had come up with it. He would find it a silly idea if it had come from any other. He would've enjoyed it if he had been asleep as well but he wasn't, he was wide awake, his senses on high alert.. His finely shaped ears were tuned in to catch any sound, even the smallest of sounds that might warn of something approaching.. Nostrils flared every now and then, taking in the scents that the wind brought to him, though it came from the side where there was a huge drop so he was quite sure that if anything decided to sneak up on him from the other side he would not know because they would be quite well hidden by the wind. A disadvantage to the lonesome stallion at this point but he wasn't really considering that, he rarely ever considered his own safety.. or sanity for that matter.
I'm not gonna try to divide or ignore you And the pieces of the puzzle that never seem to fit
The stallion rarely ever ignored anything though, even the fact that he was putting himself in danger by standing there with his eyes shut, the only one of his five senses that he could use to warn him of anything approaching from the opposite side to where the wind was approaching from. Eyes opened as he turned his hindquarters towards the direction that the wind came from, the coldness of it hitting a spot that had been quite a bit warmer than the rest of him that had been caught by the wind before making him flinch slightly. Bulging muscles were tense, the cold making him stiff although not quite sore. Though, had he had bad joints it would've been quite a painful thing for him to be standing there like he was. Maybe he should go and find some better shelter where the wind doesn't cut into him so much. After all, it couldn't be a good thing for him. He needs warmth, and company. Maybe going elsewhere for a small while would be good, just to meet someone new that he might come to know and maybe love. No, he didn't want to leave his land quite yet. He didn't enjoy having to come back here just to defend his land or try to get it back from some young immature stallion that just thought he could claim it as his because there was no one on it.. No, not in winter when his muscles ached from the cold already.. In spring and summer he would be thrilled at such a chance to have a victim to take his frustrations out on in an unrestrained manner that he would not be judged on except in awe.
I'm not playin' hangman with you I've run out of letters, let alone words You've got me shiverin' in my spine
The wind dropped again, seeming to have calmed for the moment and the stallion took the chance to make his way almost wearily over to where his land just dropped in a steep cliff to the ocean below. He stood close to the edge, close enough for him to look down the side of the cliff to the blue water below, the whiteness of the landscape and the grey of the sky was quite a startling contrast to the blue of the ocean and the water was welcome color to his eyes that had been seeing white all day. Until he had shut them of course, then they had seen nothing but black for quite some time. There was no guessing how cold that water was, he didn't really think that he even wanted to know, he definitely didn't want to touch it to find out. He was quite sure that the only reason the water did not freeze over was because of it's constant moving. Now that the wind had dropped he could hear the waves crashing against the cliff loudly, angry fists pounding at the wall that stood between them and their destination, whatever that may be. He could smell the strong smell of saltiness in the air, he could almost taste it. Though not quite, the link between his taste and his sense of smell was not quite that strong and the height at which he was was far enough from the water for the salt to not be so thick in the air. A welcome thing for if it was he would need a lot more water to stay hydrated. Though, with the amount of snow it seemed impossible to die of thirst, snow was just water after all, water in the form of fluffy white blankets that covered you in cold and makes you shiver.
If everything turned out as we had said We wouldn't have to sit here talkin' like this Maybe I would be a better fit in my own skin Maybe
Hooves were lifted high off the ground as the stallion attempted to step over the snow, ending up with making small leaps instead of taking steps as he made his way away from the edge. So that nothing unexpected might come and push him over the side to his inevitable death. Small imprints were made into the layer of snow my the hairs of his tail dragging along its surface, his hooves leaving holes in it where he stepped. He finally stopped a good distance away from the edge, pawing at the snow and pushing it aside as he managed to get to the ground underneath it. Frozen blades of grass meeting his eyes. He sighed, pawing at the grass but the blades just broke off easily and fell to the ground. The grass was all either frozen or dead because of the cold and it meant that he had to move to more secluded spots on his land where the snow had not penetrated. It meant he had to move away from this spot where he was, his most favorite spot on his land too because it was the safest place you could be. Unless you were alone with your eyes shut and a strong wind coming from the wrong direction. But even with all of that he would still feel safer up here than he did in any other parts of his land, even if there was more food. He had made sure to eat enough during the time that there had been plenty of food so that he had built up a good layer of fat in him so that he may rely on that in the days that he couldn't find any food to sustain him. That was another reason why the normally lean stallion seemed quite chunky in a way, his stomach quite big along with his long coat. Though he still appeared magnificent.
If everything turned out as we had planned We wouldn't have to go through any of this Maybe it'll be more simple than you could ever think
Sometimes he just wished that things would be easier for horses, if someone could just conveniently bring them food every day that wasn't frozen or dead in winter then that would be great. But he was pretty sure that wouldn't happen at all. Out here you had to fight for survival. But he not only had to fight for his own survival he had to fight for the survival of everyone that was under his rule, he had to take care of them and make sure that nothing bad happened to them. Well, he had to do his best doing that anyway, he did hope that perfection wasn't expected from him because then he would just fail miserably. He was a horse far from perfect, he had many flaws to prove that too, many scars as well that had stories behind them though they were all small and pretty insignificant too. No one ever noticed them because they were in places where they weren't visible and you really had to know where they were and look for them in order to actually find them. They were things that had just added to his experience, his capability and his knowledge of how to react to certain situations whether they were relevant to his position of king or not he didn't know, but he would surely find out as time went on and he did more and more things that a king needed to do. Maybe some day all these interesting things he had learnt throughout his life would come in handy and prove that they were really good information to know because they might save his life and maybe even those of several other horses. He wouldn't really know until he tried it all out and saw whether he really could respond to almost every situation in the right way.
So stay right where you are We're snoozin' through an alarm Make no sudden movements Just tell me where we are 'Cause here I am There you are Snoozin' through an alarm Snoozin' through an alarm
The stallion closed his eyes again, letting his head stay quite low down, his mane and tail now hanging limply because the wind had decided that it didn't want to start blowing again and make him cold. It was leaving him alone as it should, for it was cold enough standing in the snow without the freezing wind cutting into him as well. He was trying to doze off, though it was proving impossible as his mind had started to wander off in search of some idea. Some idea that might lead to the kingly stallion to find some mares to create a herd here on his home, one that he might take care of well and one that he may share some heat with so that he would stop freezing his butt off out here while being a loner because he was too lazy to leave his home. But it was the cold that did that to him, the cold makes him lazy. He was much more energetic in the warmer seasons, running around keeping himself as busy as he could. It was in those months that he was less approachable, less of a calm and nice stallion than he was in the calmer colder months where he tended to stay in a subdued mood. Which was part of the reason why this would be a much better time for him to go and find some mares, instead of trying to do it when he was impatient and would pretty much not put up with them for any longer than it took him to claim them as his and drag them over to his home before he would leave them again just as fast to go and do something else that needed his attention. Sometimes he just did much better on his own, without anyone else to worry about. But every horse needs a companion, even the king.
If everything turned out as we had said We wouldn't have to go through any of this Maybe

A I S H A
the white dutchess was sick and tired of not having any friends. she was at such a young age as well that it would probably just drive her in sane if she didn't find some company soon. without anyone around visions of her past drove rapidly through her head, making her more of a depressed mare than her usual self. her parents were so great that she didn't understand why they had to get their lives taken away but such a natural disaster as it had been. it wasn't fair. why couldn't it just take her life as well so that she wouldn't have to go through such troublesome times on her own. being lonely and hungry. she was too young to take care of herself. she was never fully raised properly. it wasn't fair. but she had promised herself that that was why she had to stay strong. she couldn't mourn over her parents. it just wasn't right to do that. that's why she needed someone to spend a little extra time with her, but being loners as a family meant no friends, and just growing up. nothing else. she missed the days of traveling with someone. traveling was all she had done for all ehr past two years of life. but it had been 6 months already. the past was gone and had to be forgotten since there was nothing to do about it anyways.
the late winter shouldn't be this cold. shouldn't spring be coming soon? her coat blended almost perfectly into the knee-deep snow. she was practically impossible to see. her dished face was her proof of her breed. a pure-bred arabian. she knew it too but didn't quite believe in this so called in-line breeding. why can't everyone just love everyone? what was the problem with that? she sighed. her thin arabian coat did her no good in the winter time, but there was no where for her to get out of the wind. the sky was gray and gloomy. she had barely anymore energy left in her. she sighed once again. as she walked her head bobbled rapidly, going with her movement of her skinny legs. finally she halted and looked up, needing to squint because of the blowing wind. it froze her. her ears perched atop her head so daintily. she looked like a little lady. her dark muzzle was cold and she could barely sense anything through her nostrils. she looked around. she didn't see any forest or cave or shelter of any sort. the wind was too blinding and she shut her eyes and leaned her head down.
the wind blew to her a scent she had never smelt before. salt? she shook her dial and awoke quickly from her freezing resting place. she tried to give her all to trot to where the scent was coming from, but her body was too cold and the snow was too deep. she had to walk. the flakes kicked up in front and behind her. she dipped her muzzle down but it was numb and she couldn't even feel the snow that covered her maw. her ears were still perched on her head and she tried following the smell as quickly as she could before it disappeared, but it never did disappear, nor did it get heavier. she stopped quickly from the sound of a falling boulder. water! she picked up the pace a little more, knowing that it was close, whatever it was. suddenly she slipped and almost tumbled down a cliff that led to a strange, green-looking type water. what was it? she had never seen anything of such beauty before. it was huge!!! the water seemed to never end. it smelt of an awful smell to her but was too fascinated to look away. rapids crashed over each other onto the rocks that lay way below her. she backed away slowly, not wanting to fall.
the wind had finally died down. she lifted her dished facade up quickly and looked away from the twirling ocean. who lived here? she backed away and suddenly spotted deep hoof marks. a fellow horse! excitement grew within her and she looked to where the steps were going to. curiosity caught the best of her and she couldn't help but follow the trail. she stepped in the tracks that were already made. the snow wasn't as deep right here. the wind had also died down which made her energy burst a little bit more with each step. a grin was passed over her muzzle. she was so excited that not far from here was a horse. maybe it had shelter for her, or a place to stay until the snow went away and spring would finally come. she loved spring. but that was off of the subject. she suddenly spotted the stallion. he was gorgeous and muscular. she halted in her tracks and watched him, wondering if he had noticed her yet. to her, it seemed like forever but really it was only a few moments until she couldn't help but introduce herself. she trotted up to him, the snow was shallow here. a smile passed over her maw. hello. she said to him, hoping it was ok to do that, afterall, he could be a king. word count; 882 status; finished notes; not as long as yours and kinda babbles on about stuff but, hey, it works lol.[/blockquote]
